A Note from Joe...
BMS Family,
The video linked below was sent to me by a fellow staff member at BMS. Instead of an instructional tip of the week, we are going to highlight this clip. As we start to approach spring and the energy increases, the culture and climate of our building can make a significant impact on our learners. Each and every interaction counts. I am proud of the culture we have created here at BMS and appreciate the effort that each adult puts in to make our kids feel safe and welcomed. The video below is worth the watch and its only a few minutes!
This week I will be joining teams for student support meetings. The first ten minutes will be grounding and discussion of learners. The remaining time will be a listening session for me around the slide that is shown below. As we look at the three circles which are design of learning, social emotional, and community connections, please begin to consider what supports and professional development are needed.

Building Ops Minutes
- Eclipse: The solar eclipse happens on April 8 between 1:55 and 2:05. The next solar eclipse doesn’t happen until 2044. To take advantage of this unique event, Todd Kohorst used grant money to purchase special eclipse glasses for the school to witness the eclipse. The plan is to run a WIN schedule that day. More information to come closer to the date.
- Budget Update: Joe gave us an update on where the district and school are with the budget for the 2024-2025 school year. He will summarize this information and share it with the staff.
- 6th grade commons: Joe is working with a company to get quotes for soft seating to go into the 6th grade commons. The hope is to slowly purchase better seating options for the common spaces throughout the school over the next few years.
- BMS Branding phase 2: Joe is working with Holly Bernatz (graphic designer) to get ideas of how to continue to improve our school. Over the next few months, Joe hopes to present more branding ideas to the building ops committee.
- Spring Showcase Feedback: Teachers did a great job of setting up their classroom spaces to really showcase learner work. The attendance was lower than last year, but the families that did attend really appreciated the showcase. If you have any ideas to add to the showcase next year, please let Joe or Dan know.
Congrats Rogue Robotics!
Rogue Robotics attended the Magnolia Regional this week, and with a win for the First Engineering Inspiration award, we are going to World's in Houston in April. The Rogue team includes many former Boeckman students.
