January 17th-January 20th
A Note from Principal Sage
BMS Families,
Thank you again for your flexibility last week as we needed to have a FLEX Learning Day due to the poor weather conditions.
Congratulations to all of our learners who performed at the choir concert! It was an exceptional performance. We look forward to another performance this week. Our next choir concert will be on Tuesday night at FHS. Performances are at 6:00 and 8:00 pm.
We will start the registration process for the 2023-2024 school year at the end of January. A special registration email will be coming at the end of January to register for Boeckman classes for the 23-24 school year. However, high school registration is happening sooner. More information for our 8th graders from the high school is below in the newsletter.
Our next Parent Ambassador meeting will be on February 7th at 6:00 pm in the BMS Media Center.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

6th Grade Opportunity - History Pass
Sixth graders can go to any MNHS location for FREE! It's a great way for children to explore history during non-school hours.
Any child who is in 6th grade during the 2022-23 school year is eligible for this pass. The pass provides free admittance for the 6th grader (not parents or siblings) to Minnesota Historical Society sites and museums through August 31, 2023. Not valid for field trips, paid programs or specially priced exhibits.
WINTER NWEA MAP Test - January 9-February 10, 2023
Beginning January 9, some learners may be asked to participate in the NWEA MAP test. The NWEA MAP tests are adaptive computer delivered assessments that are administered to more than 11 million students across the country, which provides a large National Norm sample for comparison. Farmington Schools chooses to administer tests in reading and math to students in grades 2 through 8. The adaptive nature of the tests means that the test adjusts to the student's responses. As a student answers correctly, the test gets more challenging. As they get items wrong, the test presents easier items. The purpose of the assessment is to identify the student's academic level in the specific content area, regardless of age, grade level or prior achievement.
To read more about the NWEA MAP test, please visit the school website, linked here. There is a link to the Opt Out information for both the NWEA MAP tests on the left side of the webpage. Please complete the form and return it to the front office. *Please note that if you Opted out in the fall, you do not need to resubmit the opt out form for the remainder of the year.
January - 7 Mindsets Theme: Live to Give
Make a Difference – The easiest and quickest way to feel better and become happier is to help someone else. Similarly, the best way to bring more good things into our lives is to start giving. When we do this, we create value with our lives and begin to receive value in return. In order to start or expand the flow of abundance in our lives, we must simply start making a difference every day in every little way that we can. 3.
Receive Gracefully – One of the hardest things for people to deal with when they start living their dreams is that they’re uncomfortable receiving the new and wonderful things that come into their lives. They may not feel worthy or know how to react. As a result, when opportunity knocks or people want to help them, they shut the door and don’t allow themselves to accept what the universe is offering them. The problem is that these gifts could be a source of joy, fulfillment, and opportunity to their lives. If we don’t receive gracefully, we cut off the cycle of giving and limit our own potential. 4.
Create a Legacy – The only thing left when we leave this life is the impact we had on others and the world. The true meaning of our lives is only apparent when it transcends us. That’s why it’s vital to find those things that we’re passionate about and orient our lives around the legacy we want to leave. We must make our lives transcend us.
