The Boeckman Buzz
November 7th - November 11th
A Note from Principal Sage
BMS Families,
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the students in our district. ISD 192 values input from our students as they are important partners as we work to improve our communication, academic programming and overall experience for everyone.
In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we will be asking for feedback from students in grades 3-12 via an online survey they will be completing at school during the window of November 15-22, 2022. The survey should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. The responses to these surveys will be completely confidential.
The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on social emotional learning skills. SEL surveys ask students to reflect on things like their ability to keep working toward a goal and how much they are able to improve their own skills. The data is particularly helpful in that we can use it to gain insight into ISD 192’s Profiles of a Lifelong Learner, which you can access at our Strategic Framework Community Companion Guide.
Your Privacy
All responses in the separate student surveys will remain confidential to protect individual privacy. You may review a copy of the sample survey questions online by clicking on each of the survey categories below:
Grades 3-5 Survey Categories: Competencies & Supports
Grades 6-12 Survey Categories: Competencies & Supports
If you do not wish for your child to participate in the Social Emotional Learning survey being conducted, you may opt out by completing this “Decline Survey Participation” form and returning it to your child’s teacher or main office by November 15, 2022.
We are partnering with a third-party vendor that specializes in SEL analytics for schools to support us in administering these surveys. You may learn more about Panorama Surveys by watching this video or visiting ttps://www.panoramaed.com/

New Staff Spotlight - Joe Clark
Name: Joe Clark
Hometown: Watertown, WI
Job prior to coming to BMS: 6th and 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher, White Bear Lake
What Colleges/Universities did you attend: University of Wisconsin-Madison
What do you most enjoy about this time of the year: I love the energy that comes with a new school year, and I also enjoy having my Saturdays and Sundays full of Badger/Packer wins!
Who is the best teacher you’ve ever had and why were they the best: My high school History teachers, Mr. Kostka and Mr. Kemp. They knew a LOT about history, but they also made history interesting and fun above everything else. They are the reasons that I wanted to become a history teacher in the first place.
What is your proudest accomplishment: Graduating with my Master’s Degree from UW-Madison
What are you reading now (or read recently): I just finished Adventures in the Screen Trade by William Goldman; am currently reading Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow
What is the furthest you have ever been from home: I left the United States for the first time this summer! I went to Canada on a fishing trip, then on a European vacation (London/Dublin/Iceland)
What interests you outside of the school: I love playing and watching sports, especially basketball and golf. Being outside is also really important to me: I love to bike/ski/hike/paddle a kayak. When I’m not doing those things, reading a playing video games occupies whatever free time I have left!
