Community Tiger Stripes
If you would like, you are now able to recognize a staff member for their positive impact on our school. If you are willing, take a moment to send a Community Tiger Stripe. The message will be sent to the staff member. Thank you in advance for taking time to help continue to relentlessly recognize the positives within our community.
WINTER NWEA MAP Test - January 19-February 4
Beginning January 19, some learners may be asked to participate in the NWEA MAP test. The NWEA MAP tests are adaptive computer delivered assessments that are administered to more than 11 million students across the country, which provides a large National Norm sample for comparison. Farmington Schools chooses to administer tests in reading and math to students in grades 2 through 8. The adaptive nature of the tests means that the test adjusts to the student's responses. As a student answers correctly, the test gets more challenging. As they get items wrong, the test presents easier items. The purpose of the assessment is to identify the student's academic level in the specific content area, regardless of age, grade level or prior achievement.
To read more about the NWEA test, please visit the school website, linked here. There is a link to the Opt Out information for both the NWEA tests on the left side of the webpage.

Optional Face Covering For Buildings
At the November 22nd school board meeting, the ISD 192 school board approved a resolution making the wearing of face coverings in ISD 192 buildings strongly recommended, not required beginning January 3, 2022. We welcome students and staff that still desire to wear face coverings in ISD 192 buildings to continue to do so.
We do want to take this opportunity to remind our families that due to federal regulations there are a few instances where face coverings are still required. These include:
- District Transportation: The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) has extended its face covering mandate through March 22, 2022 for transit systems. This includes all instances whereby ISD 192 transports students to and from school and for school sponsored activities. You can read more about this requirement by accessing the TSA site HERE.
- Nurse’s Office Within a School Setting: Per the OSHA ETS Rule, all students and staff are required to wear a mask when they enter the nurse’s office. You can read more about this requirement by accessing the Occupational Health and Safety Administration site HERE.
We strongly encourage all families to work with their student(s) to have a plan so they have ready access to a face covering should they encounter an environment where a face covering is required.
Do you know someone who might be interested in subbing?
If you know of people who are responsible, reliable, kind individuals who enjoy students, could follow a sub plan and are looking for the flexibility of part time work, encourage them to explore their Short Call Sub License with MDE. https://mn.gov/pelsb/assets/Short%20Call%20Substitute%20Teaching%20License%20Guidance%20POST_tcm1113-451855.pdf

Plan for Emergency Flexible Learning! (Repeat)

Additionally, we are seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases in our community and experiencing staff shortages in every part of our school operations. We encourage you to have a plan for emergency school closings, flexible learning days, and temporary distance learning. Please also ensure your contact information (phone and email) is up-to-date with your school building.
Information about winter weather closings is available on our website under the Families tab.
Information about flexible learning days is available on our website under the Families tab.
Information about distance learning is available on our website under Featured Topics > Safe Return to In-Person.
Thank you for supporting our schools in preparing for possible emergency closures.
