Spring Break - No School
Friday, April 2 - Friday, April 9th
Return to Full In-Person Details
We are looking forward to welcoming our hybrid learners back to full in person on Monday! Please review the details below.
Daily and Weekly Schedule
On Monday, March 29th the middle schools will transition to full in-person learning Monday through Friday. As we work to merge cohorts, the daily structure will look similar to what learners experienced in the hybrid model with morning Tiger Connections, 6 period day, and afternoon Tiger Connections time. Learners will attend all these classes in person daily.
Health Screenings
As we continue in the hybrid model and begin our transition to an in-person learning model we ask that families continue to perform daily health screenings. If your child has any COVID-19 symptoms we ask that you keep them home and reach out to our main office at 651-460-1400 to discuss the situation.
Bussing and Transportation
Transportation routes will be updated in Campus Portal on Thursday, March 25 and we encourage all families to check transportation information on that day. Your child's transportation information may or may not change as new routes are created.
Farmington Academy
Learners in Farmington Academy will continue with full distance learning. Students should continue to follow the established three week rotation between Farmington Academy teams.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. Have a great rest of your week.

Meeting Dates and Times
Tuesday, April 13th @ 6:30 pm (meet.google.com/kii-otcq-tnn)
At the April meeting, we are going to be planning for Staff Appreciation week in May. We would like anyone interested in being part of that celebration to join us on April 13th.
Message from our Counselors
This week marks the beginning of the trial of Derek Chauvin, who is the former police officer accused of killing George Floyd on May 25th, 2020. George Floyd’s death caused pain, trauma, and community discord. Some families may be following the trial closely or are having conversations about it, while others may not be aware of the trial at all. Our backgrounds, environments, and experiences all play a role in how this moment in history impacts us. If your student would like to talk more about this or needs a safe space to express emotions surrounding it, please feel free to reach out to the Boeckman School Counselors, their information is below.
Conversations that students have with counselors are confidential in nature. This means we keep our conversations with students private and do not share what we talk about with others. The exception to this is if the student plans to harm themself or others. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

2020-21 ASSESSMENT INFORMATION
At Farmington Area Public Schools, we are committed to providing our students with personalized learning experiences. To best achieve this, we regularly assess students’ growth. Various classroom and standardized assessments aid teachers in providing for individual instructional needs and identifying class trends. We strive to consider the whole picture when serving our students. Having multiple types of assessments helps provide a fuller picture of each student's needs.
Farmington Area Public Schools administer two sets of large-scale standardized assessments: the Minnesota State Accountability tests and the NWEA MAP tests. We highly encourage you to read more about what each assessment provides for your student(s), and have provided a chart for this purpose.
This year, we will not have the ability to test the MCA remotely. If your child is a Distance Learning student, they will be invited in to take the MCA in one of our buildings.
Parents and guardians do have the right to request their student(s) not participate in a scheduled assessment. If you wish your child not to take one or more of the planned assessments, please make sure you understand the role of the assessment and complete the appropriate form.

Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 Testing for Kids and Families
MDH announced a recommendation for all school-age youth returning to school, youth sports, or extracurricular activities, and their families, to get tested every two weeks through the end of the school year. While it is not a requirement, regular testing complements other safety measures already in place, such as masking and social distancing.
Schools and youth organizations can send messages and resources available on COVID-19 Testing for Kids and Families to families to encourage testing. Getting tested every two weeks from now until the end of the school year can help keep schools open and sports operating, and ensure we are limiting the spread of COVID-19.
Attendance Line: 651-460-1405
All families must complete a Daily Health Screening prior to sending learners to school. If your learner has ANYof the following more common COVID-19 symptoms they must not attend school and should consider getting a COVID-19 test:
- Fever of 100 or higher (daily home temperature check required)
- Without the use of fever reducing medications
- New onset or worsening cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- New loss of taste or smell
If your learner has ANY TWO or MORE of the less Common COVID-19 symptoms, they must not attend school and should consider getting a COVID-19 test:
- Muscle or body aches
- Sore Throat
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Excessive fatigue
- New onset of severe headache
- New onset nasal congestion or runny nose
In either of these cases, any other learners in the same household must remain at home as well and cannot attend any activities, until it can be confirmed the symptoms are not COVID-19 related or a medical professional can provide an alternative diagnosis. If it is determined that a learner must quarantine or isolate, the building nurse or building administrator will help determine the date of return according to Minnesota Department Health (MDH) guidance.
Quarantine Information
If your learner has had a COVID-19 test and is awaiting results, they (and any learners in the household) cannot attend school or any activities until the building nurse or building administrator has verified they are medically cleared to return. Please see the linked resource for additional information from MDH regarding What to do While You Wait for a COVID-19 Test Result. If it is determined that a learner must quarantine or isolate the building nurse or building administrator will help determine the date of return.
Linked is the MDH Decision Tree that schools and youth programs will use to determine who will need to quarantine or isolate depending on the given circumstances. It also indicates when a person in quarantine or isolation may return to school or activities. As you can see in the Decision Tree, if a learner is sent home with COVID-19 symptoms any other learner(s) living in the same household will be sent home too.
As outlined in the most recent MDH Guidance, if a learner is a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case:
- A 14-day quarantine remains the CDC’s recommendation for the greatest protection against COVID-19 and is required for household close contact and close contacts associated with athletics. Household and athletic close contacts cannot test out of quarantine.
- A 10-day quarantine may be considered for non-household close contact with no symptoms.
- A 7-day quarantine with a negative PCR test on or after day 5 may be considered for non-household close contact with no symptoms upon request. You can reach out directly to your school for additional information on shortened quarantine periods.
