Message from Superintendent Berg - Secondary Moving to Hybrid Learning
Greetings ISD 192 Families:
As you know, we have just welcomed our youngest learners back to our school buildings. Based on the recommendation of our Regional Support Team (representatives from Minnesota Department of Health, Minnesota Department of Education, and Dakota County Public Health), in consultation with our Incident Command Team (a focus group of staff and community members), and in accordance with the Minnesota Safe Learning Plan, we are now preparing to welcome our secondary students back to our school buildings in a hybrid learning model.
As secondary learners return to a hybrid model, all staff and students entering our buildings will be expected to comply with new comprehensive health and safety measures outlined in the updated Minnesota Safe Learning Plan in addition to our existing hybrid safety measures.
The following is the timeline for returning secondary students to the hybrid learning model:
January 25: In-person targeted support will begin for specific groups of learners in grades 6-12. These families have been contacted separately.
February 12: There will be no school for secondary students. This will be a planning day which is required by the Minnesota Safe Learning Plan and the Minnesota Department of Education prior to students returning to the classroom.
February 15: There will be no school in observance of Presidents’ Day.
February 16: 6th-10th grade students return to hybrid.
Students in grades 11-12 and Farmington Academy will continue in distance learning. This rolling start is due to the Minnesota Safe Learning Plan limiting the number of grade levels that can be introduced into a building at one time and requiring at least two weeks before introducing additional grade levels.
March 1: 11th-12th grade students return to hybrid.
Farmington Academy will continue in distance learning.
Please know that due to the unpredictability of COVID-19 and the ever evolving public health situation, our plans may be subject to change based on the most current information available.
Up-to-date transportation information, including bus routes and pick-up/drop off times, for learners that were previously utilizing district transportation in our hybrid model will be available in Campus Portal on February 8.
If you have specific questions regarding this transition to hybrid learning please contact your learner’s school directly.
We are excited to welcome our secondary learners back to our buildings in mid February and once again thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work through this latest transition. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your school office if you have questions or need assistance.
Sincerely,
Jason Berg

COVID Reporting During Distance Learning
The Farmington School District will continue to track confirmed cases of Covid19 in students and staff. It is important to call your student’s school, even when in Distance Learning if your student is diagnosed with Covid-19, has symptoms, or has been identified as a close contact.
We need our school community to work together to help stop the spread of Covid-19 in an effort to return students to in-person learning as soon as possible.
