The Boeckman Buzz

Message from Principal Blazek
BMS Community,
The events of the past few days have been difficult for many of us to process, and have caused feelings of confusion, shock, and disappointment in adults and children. At Boeckman, we will remain committed to our community and continue to engage in authentic learning experiences. As a community, it will be important for us to engage in research, conversations, and learn how to move forward from these experiences and fully understand what happened.
As we process the recent violence at the U.S. Capitol, our children may be asking questions and experiencing trauma from watching footage of the events. Dr. Stephen Sroka, president of Health Education Consultants, shared the following tips.
1. Turn off the TV news.
2. Keep routines.
3. Assure kids are safe.
4. Control your emotions.
5. Model good behavior.
6. Offer age-appropriate advice.
7. Look, listen, then speak with hope, honesty, and kindness.
Through all of this uncertainty, it is essential that we be the model for what we would like our children to be. When I look at our youth I am hopeful for what our future holds.
Megan Blazek

COVID Reporting During Distance Learning
The Farmington School District will continue to track confirmed cases of Covid19 in students and staff. It is important to call your student’s school, even when in Distance Learning if your student is diagnosed with Covid-19, has symptoms, or has been identified as a close contact.
We need our school community to work together to help stop the spread of Covid-19 in an effort to return students to in-person learning as soon as possible.
