Message from Principal Blazek
On Class Meeting Days teachers are designing learning opportunities that take place during the dedicated class time. This will include small groups, 1:1 meetings, and independent work. On Virtual Coaching Days, teachers are designing asynchronous learning opportunities which teachers support through their virtual coaching times.
Learners are expected to engage in these learning opportunities and to attend any small group Google Meets or 1:1 meeting they are asked to be at. They are also expected to engage with their teachers during virtual coaching if they have questions or want to connect. We would appreciate your support in sharing with learners the expectation to attend all learning opportunities they are asked to be at and to use virtual coaching hours. We are finding there is a misconception that students only need to attend the 15-minute class meetings.
We have developed tools for you to use at home when discussing distance learning expectations. Below we have the Distance Learning Matrix and the Day in the Life of a Student Example linked. Individual teams have developed more specific schedules for their classes that have been shared with your learner.
Finally, through hybrid and distance learning, we have been putting extra focus on developing time management and communication skills. It was great to hear how well our learners are doing managing their time, consistently attending their Google Meets, and communicating with their teachers when they cannot be at Google Meets or need help. These are key skills that will important to their success in the future.
Thank you for your continued partnership.

Dakota County is assessing safety near schools – Your input is needed
Dakota County, in collaboration with MnDOT, is conducting a study to proactively address safety for students traveling to and from the 48 schools in Dakota County next to county and state roads. The study and recommendations are focused on pedestrian and bicyclist safety.
The county is currently hosting a virtual open house to share preliminary recommendations of the study. You can view the draft recommendations for your school and share your feedback. The virtual open house materials are available now on the project website. The open house will be available for comments until at least December 11. Open house materials are provided in English and Spanish.

COVID Reporting During Distance Learning
The Farmington School District will continue to track confirmed cases of Covid19 in students and staff. It is important to call your student’s school, even when in Distance Learning if your student is diagnosed with Covid-19, has symptoms, or has been identified as a close contact.
We need our school community to work together to help stop the spread of Covid-19 in an effort to return students to in-person learning as soon as possible.
