Message from Principal Blazek
BMS Families,
As previously announced in Superintendent Berg’s email, we will be transitioning to Distance Learning for K-12 learners on Dec. 1st. We encourage families to print and use our Distance Learning Matrix to provide structure at home around our school’s core values. Nothing is going to change for our Farmington Academy learners. Below is the information about the change to distance learning for our hybrid learners.
Hybrid Learners
Your child will continue with their assigned schedule of classes. We will be maintaining our structure of six teachers supporting your child as relationships have been established with peers and teachers in those classes.
There will be a slight change in the daily schedule to facilitate having all learners learning from a distance. Please click here: Distance Learning Daily Schedule to see the schedule. I would encourage you to print the schedule to have it in a location that is convenient for your child.
Everyday:
Tiger Connections - Google Meets M-F - begins at 9 am daily
Tiger Flex - Google Form and/or Google Meets
Virtual Class Meeting Day (Hybrid In-Person Days)
Each course will have a weekly Google Meets class meeting that will be 15 minutes or less. Teachers will be available and working directly with students during their class time on the daily schedule.
Learners are expected to attend the weekly class meeting on Google Meets. If they are absent, a recording will be provided through Schoology.
Virtual class meetings will be a connection point for all learners to build excitement around the content and continue fostering the relationships established within each class.
Direct instruction will be provided as a recording to provide flexibility to learners. These recordings will be posted in Schoology.
Virtual Coaching Day (Hybrid Remote Day) - Google Meets with teachers during established virtual coaching time. Please reference the new Distance Learning Daily Schedule to see the times of the virtual coaching sessions.
Flex Learning Days - Tiger Connections at 9:00-9:10 and then WIN Times from 9:10 - 10:00. Information about WIN sessions will be communicated through Schoology announcements.
Attendance
Attendance phone calls will continue to be made for learners that do not engage in Tiger Connections daily. It is expected for your child to engage in all classes. If your child is ill and not able to engage in learning they need to be called in sick to our attendance line at 651-460-1405.
If there are barriers to your child participating or engaging during the school day, please contact the office. 651-460-1400. We want to partner with you in supporting your family through this time.
Student Support
Counseling and support services will be available both in-person and virtually. We know that the social-emotional health of our students is important as they work to engage in distance learning. Resources and counselor contact information can be found here.
This link will take you to the BMS Virtual Calm Room.
Week at a Glance
Each team will continue to provide weekly plans and these will be communicated at the team level. Teams will provide the google meet codes for class meetings directly on these planning documents. The weekly plans by the team can be found here.
Targeted In-Person Support
Some of our learners with targeted needs will be invited for in-person learning support on designated days. This is a targeted group of students and staff will be reaching out to families of those students identified.
Please find here the Distance Learning Considerations our staff will be using when planning for distance learning experiences.
Thank you,
Megan Blazek
