Message from Principal Blazek
BMS Families,
I hope you had an enjoyable Fall break, but wow did the weather turn to winter this week. We anticipated with cold weather we would need to provide storage for winter gear, and unfortunately, the snow came earlier than expected. Our building operations team has worked with all of our Tiger Connections teachers to determine what type of storage they would like in their classrooms for winter gear. The storage has been ordered and we are hoping to have it in the building within the next week. The storage is only intended for winter gear, and all other personal belongings and valuables will need to be carried with them throughout the day. Please make sure all winter gear is labeled with your child's name.
This is also a good time to mention that we have noticed that a lot of learners have overflowing backpacks. Next week, our teachers will be doing a backpack cleanout and ask kids to only keep the necessary items in their backpacks. For example, students who are not using their larger binders do not need to carry them.
Finally, I want to draw attention to the climbing COVID numbers in Dakota County and the need for all of our families to be diligent in practicing the 3Ws and health checks. Our goal is to keep children in school. Our hybrid model has helped us reduce the need to contact trace and quarantine. When we do have a positive case we have to contact trace back 48 hours from the onset of that individual's symptoms. If the person with a positive case has been in school during those 48 hours we have to complete contact tracing of their school day and determine who needs to be quarantined. To help us keep learners and staff in school it is important that if anyone in the household is symptomatic, waiting for a test, or is positive for COVID that all household members stay home from school and other activities involving members outside of our household.
We are all in this together and thank you for being our partners in making this a successful school year.
Thank you,
Megan Blazek
