The Boeckman Buzz
August 29, 2020
Message from Principal Blazek
BMS Families,
This week we welcomed teachers and paraprofessionals back to school. It was wonderful having all of them back in the building and seeing all of the exciting plans they have for this upcoming school year. We are also excited to welcome back, Mr. Turnquist, to our counseling department. He will be in for Mrs. Korteum, while she is out this year.
Over the last six months, our custodial team has been hard at work. You will notice right away all of the fresh paint in our cafeteria and around our building, along with all of the pictures they hung of our community all over the building. As we create the 20-21 Boeckman community we will be adding more pictures. There are a few more surprises updates they did that I will let you discover on your own.
Connection Days are starting on Monday and our teachers are excited to welcome you back to school. When you come to school you will be greeted by our specialist teachers who will provide you with a map and help you find your Tiger Connections teacher. When meeting with your Tiger Connection teachers you can drop off any sanitizer, tissues, or wipes you purchased for the school.
You will notice right away that we have put many safety procedures into place.
- Masks are required inside our buildings and signage is posted on all outside doors.
- Upon entering we ask that you follow the arrows on the floor to keep the flow through the building consistent and socially distanced.
- Both lunch room areas have been set up and tables marked for social distancing
- Plexiglass is hung in various locations around the building.
- In locations where students would stand in line, you will see 6ft socially distancing markers.
- Teachers will have their classrooms set up for the connection meetings to take place with at least 6ft between them and your family. You can request a virtual connection meeting by emailing your child's Tiger Connection teacher.
Other safety procedures include:
- Staff will be sanitizing tables and chairs between classes and lunches.
- Sanitizer stations are in common spaces and hallways
- Will be encouraging hand washing when possible
- We will have routines for students to wash/sanitize upon entering a location and when exiting.
- We will be socially distancing all individuals throughout the school day
- We will not be using lockers and ask that students have a backpack with all of their supplies. They will store their mask in their backpack when eating or out for recess
- We will not be ringing bells. Class transitions will be staggered to reduce congregating.
- Parent drop off and pick-up will happen ONLY on the north end of the building (Auditorium)
- When students arrive at school they will go directly to their Tiger Connection classroom
- Tiger Connection dismissal at the end of the day will be staggered to prevent congregating at the buses and parent pick up
- The main office seating area will be in the vestibule, and only two individuals can be in the main office waiting area at a time
- New recess games have been painted outside that allow for social distancing
We are excited to welcome your children back to school this upcoming Thursday and Friday. Please check the district hybrid calendar and to confirm what day your child is attending school based on their cohort in Infinite Campus. The Health Screening Agreement and 7th-grade Immunization Records must be completed before the first day of school. See the information below for directions and links.
Thank you for all of your support as we have prepared to bring your children back to school in the hybrid model. We are committed to our community and excited we have this opportunity to connect with all of your children.

Learners who turned their iPad in last spring and new students need to pick up their iPad during connection days. Make an appointment with Mr. Strand during Connection Days, using this link. 6th Grade Orientation
WEB is alive and indeed, in full swing this year! Every year we work hard to create a welcome experience at BMS for incoming 6th graders and this year is no exception. This year, Orientation will take place in their Tiger Connections and your 6th grader will participate in their WEB orientation on their first in-person day of school (Either 9/3 or 9/4 depending on their assigned cohort). This will be a virtual event, that allows us to safely connect WEB leaders and 6th-grade students throughout our building. Students will log into the event during Tiger Connections where they have the support of a teacher. If your 6th grader is participating in Farmington Academy, they will also be having orientation on one of those two days with more detailed information to follow.
Daily Health Care Screening Agreement – Need Your Response For Each Child
We are asking that each family sign an agreement to administer a daily health care screening at home before sending your child to school. In order to do this, we ask that you CLICK HERE to complete a survey. If you have multiple children enrolled at Boeckman, you will need to complete the survey for each child. As part of our welcome back to school, we will need this agreement for each student planning to come into the building before school begins. Thank you for your help.
Hiring For School-Age Care Positions
The Farmington School District/Farmington Community Education is working to provide school-age child care to our essential tier 1 and other community members. The number of staff needs has increased. Positions still needing to be filled are: one on one positions that assist primarily one student with special needs during the day (workdays Wed-Fri) as well as instructor positions in charge of a small pod of children (Mon-Fri). If you know of anyone who loves kids, is responsible, and is age 18 or older and would be interested and available to work in our child care programs, please ask them to review our job openings list on the district website and apply. We start on Monday, so we’d love to get a few more people hired by then.
We also have a number of paraprofessional positions available as well.
If you know of someone who would be interested in the positions but can’t commit to a regular schedule, we are in need of substitute staff as well. They may call (651) 463-5040 or (651) 460-3200 or the Community Education office for more information on subbing.
Open positions are on our website at:
