The Boeckman Buzz

Message from Principal Blazek
BMS Families,
It was a great week at Boeckman Middle School! Hosting connection meetings and welcoming our cohort 1 and cohort 2 learners back to school felt amazing. Thank you for sharing your children with us and helping all of us have some normalcy amid this pandemic.
We’ve learned a couple of things this week as we implemented our new start times and safety protocols. With our new start times, we now have more activities using our facilities during the time we are dismissing from school. As a result, cars are parking in our bus loop and driving through our parent pick up. We are working on changing our signage on the bus loop and asking coaches of those activities to have their players to park in the east parking lot.
If you are picking your child up we ask that you do so at the curb and do not park in the north parking lot. This will help us keep them safe by not crossing the street that leads to our east parking lot. We also ask that parents pull up as far as they can. We are spacing kids out as much as we can outside and you may drive past them. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our kids safe and to make pick up go as smoothly as possible.
This week we received new guidance on COVID symptoms and needing to stay home. Please review the new guidance linked below.
We shared pictures throughout the day on our social media. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or check out the pictures below of our first days of school. Have a great long weekend. There is NO SCHOOL on Monday in honor of Labor Day.

Schedule for Remote Learning Days
Next week, all of us will be establishing our routine for remote learning days. It is important to think about creating the best possible learning space for your child. Below is an outline of a schedule and times that staff will be attempting to engage your child in supporting their learning. We realize that all families will have different schedules, but we are hoping this schedule will support you and your family in organizing the remote learning days. If our staff members have not interacted with your child before 10a, you will be receiving an automated phone call. If your family has circumstances that your child will not be able to interact before 10 am on remote learning days, please contact your child’s counselor (see counselor list below).
Your child's tiger connections and content teachers will be providing materials through Schoology on remote days and will have a Google Meets Nickname for the times they meet for virtual coaching.

As part of our welcome back to school, we will need this agreement for each student planning to come into the building before school begins. Thank you for your help.

Hiring For School-Age Care Positions
The Farmington School District/Farmington Community Education is working to provide school-age child care to our essential tier 1 and other community members. The number of staff needs has increased. Positions still needing to be filled are: one on one positions that assist primarily one student with special needs during the day (workdays Wed-Fri) as well as instructor positions in charge of a small pod of children (Mon-Fri). If you know of anyone who loves kids, is responsible, and is age 18 or older and would be interested and available to work in our child care programs, please ask them to review our job openings list on the district website and apply. We start on Monday, so we’d love to get a few more people hired by then.
We also have a number of paraprofessional positions available as well.
If you know of someone who would be interested in the positions but can’t commit to a regular schedule, we are in need of substitute staff as well. They may call (651) 463-5040 or (651) 460-3200 or the Community Education office for more information on subbing.
